The Beginning

W.S. Lusher & Son Ltd. was founded in 1924 by William Slaymaker Lusher at his home in Tillett Road, Sprowston, Norwich. In 1934 the business moved to its current location in School Lane, Sprowston on the site of a disused brickmaking yard. Under WS houses, schools, churches and hospitals were built in and around Norwich. The Company also secured work as far away as Wales (for Boulton & Paul) and the Isle of Wight (for Saunders Roe, sea plane manufacturers).

The Second Generation

The second generation of the business under William Ivan saw the ecclesiastical connection increase with works to the spire of Norwich Cathedral, the re-building of St Mary's at Walsingham and the construction of four crematoria, including Horsham St Faiths. We were proud to be awarded The Royal Warrant of Appointment from Her Majesty The Queen for works at Sandringham House, the warrant remains in place through planned annual maintenance.

The Company Today

In overseeing the period of the third generation Mark Lusher has maintained the family values whilst ensuring the Company can operate in today's fierce economic climate. Customers still have the benefit of the personal touch, backed up by individually assigned foremen and contracts managers. Mark says "We have always been associated with high-quality workmanship and service, a reputation we are determined to keep. We are committed to the future with the training of apprentices."
